Yes you can. You can also press a claim agaist your attorney its called Professional Negligence.

Professional Negligence is If you you feel your existing Solicitor has not handled your case properly. (3rd paragraph below is good for you)

In Solicitors professional negligence claims, failure to issue or serve your claim on the defendants within the time limits allowed by the court, and failure to comply with other time limits are the most common causes of a claim for professional negligence.

In addition, solicitors sometimes issue proceedings against the wrong defendant, or fail to notice a specific type of claim that you could make.

In other cases clients have been wrongly advised to settle when they could in fact have received a larger sum.

if he asks you to accept a low offer then his is a piss poor attorney. you can fire anyone you want. you do have a fees agreement in writing, right?

If it was a contingency fee, you can fire him anytime you wish. The contract will govern any fee earned. Ordinarily, the ethics rules provide that he can charge a reasonable hourly fee for the work actually done. If you settle on the agreement he negotiated, he could claim a proportionate share, but that would be a fight between him and the new lawyer.
